10 bad habits you must stop to reach financial independence

Reach Financial Independence

Have you been struggling with your finances and want to change your life? If so, you have come to the right place. To reach financial independence, there are habits you must give up. In addition, there are others you must adopt throughout your financial journey.

It is difficult to stop a habit once it is ingrained in your subconscious. The good news is that no problem is insurmountable. You can always achieve your greatness. The first step you must take is to believe that you can do it. Tell yourself that you can achieve it enough times to make it a reality. Once this is fixed in your mind, it will not be hard for you to achieve it.

Without further ado, the following are ten habits you must stop to reach financial independence.

1. Stop procrastination

Procrastination is the true source of laziness and underperformance in your business. This behavior also leads to a miserable life, and things tend to go wrong all the time.

Procrastinators avoid working on their projects when they still have time. They push everything at the last minute and rush through the work. The quality of the procrastinated job is always below average. This is because you did not have enough time to do thorough research.

If you want to be financially independent, start working on your projects when you receive them. Make a plan for every task and perform it during its designed time frame.

2. Stop violating time if you want to reach financial independence

Time management should be one of the most important aspects of your life. A wasted time can never be regained. That is why you should use your time wisely and make the most out of every second of your life.

People who violate time tend to underperform everyone else in life. You probably heard the term: Time is money. That is true. The time you have is your greatest asset. You can always achieve anything you want in life if you have time. If you want to become financially independent, stop wasting time. If you said a project will take 1 hour, try to fit all tasks necessary in that time slot. Any minute you spend on the same project after 1 hour will be wasted, and you cannot regain it.

To achieve financial freedom and live a happy life, you must respect time. Do whatever you can to stay ahead of time. Doing more in less time will increase your chances of success.

3. To reach financial independence: Avoid negative self-talk

Your greatest enemy is inside you. This is not a typo. You will become whatever you tell yourself to be. It will come true if you want to be a pilot and convince yourself that you can achieve it.

By telling yourself that you cannot achieve something(whatever it is), you will never achieve it. The point here is that you will become who you think you are. Negative self-talk will hinder your chances of learning and becoming better.

If you truly believe something is impossible, you will never conquer it. Your brain registers the information you provide in your subconscious until it becomes a reality. If you think you are a failure, it will be hard for you to succeed.

For example, some of you think you are not smart enough to get a bachelor’s degree. You tell yourself that lie until you start shivering whenever someone mentions college. Why is that? You trained your brain to think that you are a total loser. Now, your brain thinks that it is true. So, self-negative talks are deadly, and you should avoid them.

So, what should you do instead?

Since everything starts small and simple, you must take the same steps to change what has been registered in your subconscious. The solution is simple. The hardest part is to stick to it.

Here are the top sentences to train your brain daily.

  • I am beautiful
  • I can do it
  • How can I do it
  • What techniques can I use
  • It is possible
  • I am going to do it
  • I can be successful
  • Everything is achievable
  • Every skill is learnable
  • I am going to have a great day
  • People like me
  • I love what I do
  • I will figure it out

All these sentences send a positive affirmation into your subconscious. Instead of having an adverse reaction to a problem, your brain will focus on how to achieve it. Instead of running when problems come, you will focus on finding solutions. This is a true source of happiness and wealth generation.

Having a positive and clear mind will guide you to perform better in your life, both spiritually and financially. Trust me, the happier you are, the more you will achieve. So, to reach financial independence and build wealth, avoid negative self-talk.

4. To reach financial independence: Stop disrespecting others

Before your world improves, you must find a way to create a better world for others. If you want to be respected by people, respect them first. It is unlikely that someone you respect will show you the opposite.

There is a price to pay for everything beautiful. If you are not sweating, you are not working hard enough, and for this reason, you are not achieving what you want to achieve.

Respecting others creates a sense of happiness. In addition, you receive respect from others. The more respect you get from others, the more complete and happier you will feel. Once you reach that level, working on a complex financial problem will not be hard.

Respecting others also reduces conflicts without yourself and others around you. This will help you channel your mind and soul toward Financial freedom. Instead of worrying whether a person is going to strangle you, you will focus on how you can make more money. Hence increasing your chances of succeeding financially.

6. Stop spending your time on video games/TV/Movies/Shows

Unless you play to get paid, you should reduce your time on video games. TV, TV shows, movies, etc. all cost you money. How much do they make you? Zero dollars. How much time do you spend watching them? A lot of hours per week. You could quickly become financially independent if you reduce the time you waste on these artificial entertainments.

The time you save from entertainment could be used toward important things. For example, you can cut it in half if you spend 4 hours a day playing video games. You can then use the 2 hours you saved to learn about investing or how to save money.

It is never too late to reach financial independence. However, you will never get there if you don’t take the first step.

8. To reach financial independence: Stop the habit of not learning

There are a ton of people who think that learning is like a punishment. They go to college, and once they graduate, they are done with learning. This is a huge mistake to make whether you want to achieve financial independence or not.

If you are not learning a new skill, you are losing one. We are in a constantly changing world where what you know today will be obsolete tomorrow. So, how will you apply the knowledge that is no longer needed? I will let you answer that for yourself.

To stay ahead of the game, keep learning as much as you can in your area. Even if you are not learning about what you apply every day at work, you are much better than someone who is just watching movies and eating popcorn.

To achieve financial independence, you must make peace with learning. Every step toward your debt-free journey, including saving money, investing, managing risks, building a happy life, etc., will require you to learn. How much you learn and apply will determine the speed at which you reach your destiny.

Learning will make you smarter and richer.

9. To reach financial independence: Stop skipping your breaks

Your body is made of flesh and bones. As far as health is concerned, they get tired and can break easily. Once broken, a body cannot be repaired. Well, you can repair it, but it will cost you a fortune. In order to avoid burning out and losing your mind, make sure that you take all your breaks when necessary. If your body is telling you to take a break, take it.

You should always have enough sleep to give your body the rest it needs. Your body is the house of your soul, and it should be protected.

Resting enough will refresh your body and mind, increasing your chances of performing much better and faster. This will lead to more financial results and, later on, financial independence.

10. Stop your addiction(s) to reach financial independence

Last but not least is the addiction problem. Are you addicted to something? Whether you think your addiction is good for you or not, you must stop it. Too much of anything is not good.

Some are saying that addiction to finding financial answers is good. Well, I have to break it to you. It is not good. Financial solutions are not forced. Rather, they are a continuation of small, successful steps. Your addictions will hinder your progress, and the money you will make will not benefit you since you will not allocate it correctly. You will probably use it to fix the emotional and physical damages you got from your insanity.

Are you addicted to smoking, watching or playing too much of anything, drinking too much, eating too much, spending too much, smoking, etc.? You can always return where you started and get your life back on track. No problem is insurmountable. You can overcome yours and get your finances back together. You just need to believe that you can do it. Everything else will follow.

To make sure that you reach financial independence peacefully and with ease, stop your addiction. Addiction leads to the loss of a soul and self-destruction. So, you cannot achieve the success you are chasing if you are destroying yourself slowly.
